Alois Stoff, Austrian (1846-c.1922)

 

Stoff was an Austrian portrait painter born in Korneuburg, about 8 miles northwest of Vienna. He studied under Karl Mayer, an active Viennese portrait painter, at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna.

 

As a 19th century Austrian painter, Stoff explored and drew inspiration from the Neoclassic, Romantic, Symbolic and Art Nouveau styles, creating a diverse and rich artistic heritage.  He remained active in Vienna and also in Krem in his later years.
