Georgian silver plate refers to tableware and decorative objects made in the Georgian period (roughly 1714-1830), typically featuring a thin layer of silver coating applied to a base metal, rather than being solid silver. These pieces are often characterized by the elegant and intricate designs associated with the Georgian era.

Georgian silver plate items often display the characteristic designs of the period, such as neoclassical motifs, intricate scrollwork, and ornate borders.

Tureens are serving dishes traditionally used for soups, stews and the like.  They may be oval or rectangular in shape and have handles.  A domed cover with a knob or handle atop accompanies a tureen to help retain heat and flavor.
