Old Paris porcelain was produced in Paris, France during the 18th and 19th centuries. It is called a “soft-paste” porcelain, as it is made from a mix of kaolin and feldspar, a soft clay. Old Paris porcelain is known for its delicate, intricate designs, often featuring floral patterns, and scenes from literature and mythology. Overglaze enamels were used in decoration, allowing for a wide range of colors. Manufacturers include Meissen, Sevres and Vincennes. Old Paris porcelain was considered a luxury item and is still sought by collectors and enthusiasts for its design quality and craftsmanship.
