Antique 19th Century English Mahogany Demi-Lune Sideboard

Height: 37 inches   Width: 58 inches   Depth: 23 1/2 inches

A sideboard is a side or serving table, also known as a buffet. It would sit along the wall of a dining room adjacent to the dining table.  Sideboards could be used for serving food, for displaying serving dishes and for storage. Sideboards usually have a set of cabinets or one of more drawers.  This sideboard has a nice set of tambour doors in the central bottom section.  Tambour doors were wooden slats glued to a fabric backing, with tracks to allow the doors to slide open and retract.  The term “tambour” originates from the French word for drum due to the door’s rolling mechanism along a round shape.
