Antique Boiserie: A French Country Estate Room
This wonderful oak boiserie (paneled room) once formed part of a grand 19th century chateau near LeMans, France, known as the hereditary home of the Count de Quatre Barbes, a military leader and a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur. Opposing walls of the boiserie are architecturally symmetrical, detailed with splendid wood carvings of cornucopias and symbols of the harvest representing the hunt, wild game, fish and fowl. Two impressive oil paintings of floral arrangements framed in floral design adorn the walls along with the coat of arms of the Count de Quatre Barbes. Carved on the dormer of the stone chateau and repeated in the paneling of the boiserie is the coat of arms of the Count de Quatre Barbes. Height: 12 feet Width: 16 1/2 feet x 19 feet
