This lovely Capo di Monte jewelry box has different images on each side.   Capo di Monte, or Capodimonte, was a soft paste porcelain developed in 18th century Italy under the patronage of the King of Naples between 1743 and 1759. It is known for intricate, elaborate decoration and molded figurines. The reputation of the factory's products was so high that the name is often claimed and used for porcelain made in other factories in or around Naples. The words Capo di Monte translates to top of the mountain in English, and the location in Naples is a large hill, overlooking and protecting the city.
