Adam was a 18th century Neoclassical furniture style practiced by Scottish architect William Adam and his sons. Their work set the style for fine interiors for much of the latter 18th century. Sons Robert and James published an engraved pattern book entitled” The Works in Architecture” to allow others to imitate their designs. They often incorporated Egyptian and Etruscan motifs into their work. By 1895, the style preference in England had shifted to Regency and to French Empire in France.
