Antique English Art Deco Silvered Bronze Mirror with Hand Beveling, Circa 1920

Height: 17 inches   Width: 14 inches   Depth: 3/4 inch

Art Deco emerged as a style in Paris just prior to World War I and thrived until the onset of World War II. The style was characterized by clean lines, geometric ornamentation and decorative elegance.

Silvered bronze, more unusual than other decorative bronze techniques such as patination and ormolu, refers to the process of covering soft bronze with thin layers of silver to produce an attractive, silvered finish.

Hand beveling grinds the glass edge to produce a slight slope, creating a prismatic effect when light hits the surface.
