Antique English Copper and Brass Coal Bucket, Circa 1850-1870
Height: 12 1/2 inches Width: 14 1/4 inches Depth: 10 1/8 inches
Coal buckets were containers designed to hold and carry coal for indoor heating. By the mid-19th century, wood logs had largely replaced coal as a heat source. The bucket could also be used to collect ashes once the fire was out. Coal buckets could be very simple or quite ornate. This one is quite nice, in copper and brass.
