Height: 29 3/4 inches Width: 47 1/2 inches Depth: 23 inches
A demilune (“half moon”) table is crescent-shaped with a graceful front and a straight back designed to be set against a wall. They may have three to four legs. Demilune tables can substitute for consoles or credenzas, especially in long, narrow spaces. They have been popular for centuries and come in many sizes, shapes and designs.
Adam style is an 18th century Neoclassical style practiced by Scottish architect William Adam and his sons. Their work set the style for fine interiors for much of the latter 18th century. Sons Robert and James published an engraved pattern book entitled” The Works in Architecture” to allow others to imitate their designs. They often incorporated Egyptian and Etruscan motifs into their work. By 1895, the style preference in England had shifted to Regency and to French Empire in France.
