Jacob Petit (1796-1868), born Jacob Mordecai in 1796, was a significant 19th century French porcelain manufacturer.  He began his career as a painter at the Sevres porcelain factory and later owned a porcelain factory in Fontainebleau.  Characterized by delicate designs and vibrant colors, often reflecting the Rococo style, his techniques and artistic vision made his work highly sought after in Europe and abroad.
