A "divan de milieu" (French for "middle sofa") is a circular or semi-circular settee, often with four upholstered seats, designed to be placed in the center of a room for  conversation. It was popular in French decor, especially in drawing rooms and public spaces, during the 19th century. Such furniture was considered a luxury item.

 

Aubusson textiles have been famous throughout the world since the 14th century.   The artists in the Aubusson factory developed a style of weaving  that created stunning visual effects.
