Antique French Mahogany and Gold Bronze Bouillotte Table, Circa 1890

Height: 30 inches   Diameter: 20 inches

A bouillotte table is a small, round desk-height table used for playing the card game of its name, which was a gambling pastime of the French Revolutionary period that influenced the open-card stud variation in today’s poker.  Bouillotte tables often have metal galleries around the table to prevent gaming pieces from falling, and they also often have marble tops.  Pull-out trays or drawers are parts of the tables where game pieces could be stored.  They can be used as a side or occasional tables in today’s homes.
