E.H. Cauchois, French (1850-1911)

Revealing much potential as a young artist, Eugène Henri Cauchois left his home in Rouen to study at the prestigious École des Beaux Arts in Paris.  As a pupil of the highly distinguished and fashionable court painter Alexandre Cabannel, Cauchois assisted in painting decorative panels on a grand scale for the palace of the Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie.

His first painting to be accepted for exhibition was at the Salon of 1874.  Cauchois subsequently exhibited his works widely in the Paris Salon, Saint-Etienne Salon, Dijon Salon and the Daniel Grossman Gallery Exhibition, receiving countless medals for his impressionistic superiority. In 1890 he became a member of the Société du Salon des Artistes Français.

Cauchois’ art can be viewed in the museums of Louviers, Perpignan, Aux-Halles and Rouen.
