Émile Gallé  (1846-1904) was a very important figure in the French Art Nouveau movement.  A creative genius and multi-faceted designer,  Gallé learned in his father’s studio and small factory.  His original techniques and experimental works quickly brought him enormous fame.  By the time of the 1899 Exposition Universelle, Gallé was considered an outstanding master of the fine arts.  Today his works can be found in most of the great museums in the world.  This rare garniture, signed with Emile Galle’s monogram (E.G. deposé), is a splendid example of his versatility.
