The Gorham Manufacturing Company was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1831. Known for its production of coin silver at first, it then became a producer of high-quality sterling flatware and tableware, as well as silver plate items.  The Gorham name has been sold and licensed to various corporations in its history and some historic patterns can still be made to order.
