Pair Antique English Georgian Brass Andirons, Circa 1810-1820

Height: 20 inches   Width: 13 inches   Depth: 10 1/2 inches

The Georgian period spanned the reigns of English Kings George I – George IV in England, from 1714 until 1820.  Georgian furnishings are known for elegance, simplicity, fine quality, balance and lack of ornamentation.

Andirons were used in fireplaces to support logs as they burn.  They typically come in pairs.  Andirons are elevated, allowing for better air circulation under the firewood. This resulted in more efficient burning and less smoke.
