Pair of Antique Period Bronzes by French Sculptor Clésinger
Height: 26 and 27 inches high (one is slightly taller than the other)
Jean-Baptiste Auguste Clésinger ( 1814 - 1883) was a 19th-century French sculptor and painter. His father, Georges-Philippe, was a sculptor and trained Auguste in art. Auguste first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1843 and continued to exhibit until 1864. He received the knight's cross of the Légion d'honneur in 1849 and rose to an officer of the order in 1864. Clésingeris buried in the Père Lachaise Cemetery (division 10) in Paris.
