Trompe-l’oeil is a French term whose translation to English means to “deceive the eye”.   It is a manner of painting that creates the illusion of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface.   Trompe-l’oeil has been used for centuries to trick viewers into thinking that what they see is real.
