Set of 4 Georgian Decanter Labels by Paul Storr 1819
Paul Storr (1770-1844) was one of the most talented silversmith of the late Georgian period in England. By the onset of the 19th century, he was producing commissioned pieces for King George III and King George IV. Storr retained his PS mark (a silver mark is a stamp used by the maker to prove the authenticity of his work) throughout his life.
Storr joined the popular silver retailing firm Rundell, Bridge and Rundell after Philip Rundell realized Storr's exceptional talent. Wanting to have his own artistic freedom again, Storr left the firm to open his own shop in 1819 and soon began enjoying the patronage he desered. However, in need of a retail location, he partnered with John Mortimer, founding Storr and Mortimer in 1822. He continued to produce amazing works until the time of his retirement in 1838.
Storr's works can be seen at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and at countless other museums throughout the world.
